Practices such as bottom trawling, dynamite fishing, and the use of illegal fishing gear not only cause significant damage to marine habitats but also deplete fish stocks and threaten the livelihoods of coastal communities. Bottom trawling, for instance, involves dragging heavy nets along the seabed, indiscriminately capturing marine life and destroying fragile ecosystems such as coral reefs and seabed habitats. Dynamite fishing, on the other hand, involves the use of explosives to stun or kill fish, resulting in widespread destruction of marine life and coral reefs.
